Gameplay
Chrono Trigger console features a standard role-playing game (RPG) game with some innovations. The player controls the protagonist and his friends in two-dimensional fictional world of the game, consisting of various forests, cities, and dungeons. Navigation occurs via an overworld map, depicting the view from the view of the above scale. Areas such as forests, cities, and similar places are described as more realistic scaled down maps, in which players can communicate with the locals to get the goods and services, solve puzzles and challenges, or meet the enemy. Chrono Trigger gameplay that deviates from the traditional RPG, rather than appearing in random encounters, many enemies are openly visible on field maps or wait to ambush the party. Contact with the enemy on the battlefield map initiates a battle that occurs directly on the map than in a separate battle screen.

Music
Music of the Chrono series mainly composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. Chrono Trigger was the first game that he served as composer. However, after Mitsuda contracted stomach ulcers, Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu was brought into the project to write ten songs [24]. At the time of release of the game, the quantity of tracks and sound effects are unprecedented. [25] In addition, one-disc acid jazz arrangement called The Brink of Time was also released. Mitsuda went on to write the soundtrack for Radical Dreamers, which was never commercially released as an album
